Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP)

Since September 2014 all pupils have been slowly changed over from Statements to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) following new Government guidance.  This will be completed by July 2018.

The EHCP's will be designed to look at the future needs of the pupil.  Although the EHCP can remain until the age of 25, the SEN Code of Practice, states that there is no automatic right to expect support to continue at age 19, nor is there a right to expect that young people who have EHCP's will continue in education or training until they reach the age of 25.

The duty on the Local Authority is to consider if the outcomes identified in the EHCP have been achieved when aged 18 or over, and to also consider whether remaining in education or training would enable progression to achieve the outcomes.
